Conflict or IPV?: Understanding the Key Components of Intimate Partner Violence

In this workshop, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how abuse manifests in intimate partner relationships. During our time together, participants will explore the root causes of abuse as well as the 6 key types of abuse. In our time together, participants will gain practical strategies for safety planning, supporting survivors of harm, and engaging those who cause harm. Participants will also leave with increased awareness of their own challenges when engaging clients around harm and strategies to manage those challenges in service of themself and the folks that they seek to support.
Learning Objectives:
Develop a nuanced understanding of the systems and dynamics that contribute to culture of intimate partner violence
Learn about the 6 most common types of abuse
Explore clinical approaches to safety planning and supporting those experiencing harm and engaging those causing harm in relationships
This training is eligible for 2 Continuing Education Credits for NBCC Counselors and New York LMHCs, LCSWs, and LMSWs
